Through our online shop, you can easily search for the domain name you wish to register to see if it is available. The price is displayed as soon as availability has been checked, and if the domain is available, you can register it straight away in just a few minutes. If you already own a domain name that you wish to transfer to us, the process is the same: enter the domain name in the search box and select the option to transfer it. You’ll need a transfer code (also known as an auth code or EPP code) from your current provider in order to complete the transfer.
When it’s time to renew your domain name, you’ll receive a reminder by email well in advance. Please note that you’ll also need one of our hosting packages to be able to use the domain name for a WordPress or WooCommerce website. If, instead, you wish to use an external service such as Wix or Squarespace, you can purchase our add-on services: DNS hosting or email hosting. This will give you access to our control panel, but with more limited access compared to a standard hosting package.
What exactly is a domain name?
It’s easy to get lost among all the technical terms. To explain how everything fits together, think of your online business as a regular physical house:
Hosting is like a plot of land: It’s the physical space on our servers in Finland where your website and email are hosted. Without a plot of land (hosting), your house has nowhere to stand.
A domain name is like your street address: It’s the name (for example, yourcompany.fi) that people type into their browser to find their way to you. It’s the address that leads visitors to your property.
Your website is the house itself: it’s the walls, the furniture, the paintings, and the different rooms that visitors encounter when they step through the door. It’s simply everything that makes your business unique and welcoming online.
That’s why you always need both an address (domain name) and a server (hosting) for your website and email to work.

Tips for Registering a .se Domain Name
Registering the correct address for the Swedish market is an important step for your business. Here are five strategic tips and guidelines that are good to know before you complete your order:
Check the rights to the name: Before registering a .se domain, you should verify that the name does not infringe on an existing Swedish trademark or business name. Unlike many other top-level domains, the Swedish registry (Internetstiftelsen) has a dispute resolution system (ATF) through which trademark owners can retroactively claim rights to domains registered in bad faith.
Open to everyone: Anyone can register a .se domain. There are no requirements that your company must have a physical address in Sweden or a Swedish organization number. You can easily register the domain using your standard Finnish business or personal information directly at our checkout, and the registration is activated immediately.
Characters and length: A .se domain name must contain at least 2 and no more than 63 characters. Although it is technically possible to register domains containing å, ä, and ö (so-called IDN domains), we recommend that you primarily choose a name using the standard international characters a–z, 0–9, and hyphens for your main website and email.
Keep your future email in mind: If you plan to use the domain for your email (for example, ), it’s best to avoid the characters å, ä, and ö in the main domain altogether. Although these characters work on the web, they can still cause technical problems in older email systems and in international contexts. A short, clean domain without special characters makes it easy for your Swedish customers to type it correctly.
No Right of Withdrawal for Registrations: Just like with most other top-level domains, the registration of a .se domain takes place immediately in the central registry and cannot be canceled or revoked once the order has been completed. Therefore, please double-check the spelling in the search box before proceeding to checkout, as the fee for a registered domain is non-refundable.
